Post by: gerry c on 21 April 2011, 16:09:56
after my timing belt snapping and getting the head rebuilt, i now have another problem.

my auto box wont change from 1st its just holding out, dont seem right. could the mechanic failed to have connected anything when taking the head off?? or is my box on its way out.. :'(

Are the LED`s on your centre consol all lighting up at the same time?, also worth checking the round plug by the battery (the blue one) just in case thats taken a knock when the battery was disconnected.

Just to clarify, its a round plug multiconnector & it will be colour coded blue, just to confirm your problem, does it not change gear at all?, only miggys tend to hold 1st gear for a while when cold. :y

well i took it for a spin earlier and it worked no problem, so your cold theory may be the answer, havent noticed it happening before tho.

Sometimes these thing are there all along but until something happens you dont realise it, just like cars that you dont often see, someone you know buys one and then all of a sudden every other car is the same model.
The idea of holding 1st is to allow the fluid temp to rise a bit quicker thus allowing normal operation faster.
Only worry if it wont change at all when hot. :D

dont suppose you could tell what a multiconnector looks like lol, had a look under the bonnet and the only blue things beside the battery are a blue fuse that sits right beside the battery ( i dont reckon this is factory looks kinda cowboyish) and a blue relay in the box beside the battery
