Can I have some advice please ?
This is on an Omega 2.2 GLS on a '52 plate.
1. The air con system on my Omega does not get cold . . bit of a pain in the recent hot weather.
Is there any quick and easy way of telling whether the compressor is knackered or if the system just needs re-gassing ? :D
2. I've gone mad ::) and bought a pair of second hand fog lights, along with a replacement light switch with the additional button. I've checked the existing wiring and the loom appears to be in place for the feed to the lamps. I've ordered the mounting clips for the lights from my local Vauxhall dealer. Is there anything else I will need . . relay etc. ?
Thanks in anticipation,
Nick

Best to go to an aircon regas specialist, as they test the system for leaks etc. before regassing it. If its leaking the dye they use will show where its leaking from. If it isnt leaking - gas in, job done. :y
Foglights - not sure if they are simple plug and play or not. :-/

I think you're going to need a relay in the fuse/relay ... :-/
I'm going off when I was playing with my Manta B ............ many moons ago ;)

There is a few higher spec miggys being striped on here at the moment why not get all you need from them and not pay full price from dealers for your parts. Job done :y

No relay needed. Fuse #16 powers the fogs

Not done this job myself but are they plug and play Rob if you have the loom in place and the switch. It's to late at night and my glass is going down! all miggy's come with fog lights yes? :-/

that's fog lights on the rear as stanard :-/

Foglights are plug & play as long as the loom is there.....and yes, rear fogs are standard

If your system is low on gas the clutch on the compressor will not engage to avoid damage.Worst case scenario is a locked/jammed compressor that will make your aux belt squeal like a pig.If this is the case get it seen to as soon as possible.(I speak from experience :-[)

Hi you lot,
Just to finish off this thread . . .
Air Con issues: The Condenser on the air con system is leaking. I shot round to Halfords (I know :-\ . . but they were doing a free air con system check ::) ) They gassed it and the guy apparently froze his steel toecap. So I'm going to be sourcing a new condenser unit in the new year.
Fog Lights: I eventually got round to looking at the problem of fitting them. I rang Steve at Heathrow, and he was really great. He expalined the system and flogged me a new piece of wiring loom. The loom from the outside temp sensor to the first main loom plug is replaced with feeds for the fogs and the sensor.
A trip to Vauxhall got the screws and the plastic plugs they screw into for a couple of quid.
Basically I fitted the whole lot on Saturday morning, including changing the main light switch with the extra foglight button (this is where the relay is housed), and . . . nothing :(
Then I remembered Rob G's post . . the fuse ! D'oh. One 20 Amp fuse later brilliant kerb lighting !
Now all I need to do is adjust the flamin' things
Many thanks to you all for the help . . no doubt "I'll be back"
All the best,
Happy Christmas (Bah humbug)
