This seems to be a common problem on Omegas, how can you diy the light off, not the one with the spanner through it the yellow engine light. Have done the code thing and seems it is some sort of sensor. New engine fitted and light came on after an oil change. Drove fine for 1200 miles until the oil and filter change.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks......

Tell us the code number and we might be able to help ... anything else is purely guesswork .. :)

Do the 'pedal trick' to get your codes & then go from there.
You've to fix the fault to put the light out though.

Whilst awaiting the code from you another possibility is that the issue is not linked to oil change but more to do with a fuel change eg has fuel been run to alomst empty or change in fuel type.
Best bet is to just reset the code with a reader assuming it is the o2 sensor and something that will not impact on MOT emissions test.
Apparently the light will go off if the car has 30 or so "clean" starts. But get the code so we know for certain.

Not true. ;) If the EML is on, there is a fault. 20/30 'clean starts' will clear the logged fault from the ECU after the fault has been fixed. :y

Not quite correct Andy for the EML problem - in theory you are correct but the problem here is that you can reset the light and it will not come back on for months if the problem is the pre cat sensor. So you will see posts around this subject about moving the sensors and others about just resetting as the problem only occurs very occasionally. Whether the fault is fixed is another matter - apparently it is just that the cats get more sensitive with age but not worth the hassle if you can reset and forget about it for a while. As said though on this case we do not know the code yet so this is pure guess work at the moment.

Had my sensors moved to behind the main cats (courtesey of MDTM) over a year ago and not had the EML on ever since. :y
