Possibly covered before,
But i cant find a guide.
I have a mini FL elite leather estate interior to be fitted to my Select Pre - Facelift estate.
The Leather ones are full electric with side airbags.
And my current ones are cloth, with only the drivers side electric height adjustment.
Several questions about fitment.
Front ones: how to wire in? Will airbags be used or not?
Heated seats....I'm not too fussed about them working...but could they? Seeing as i have no switches etc.
Rear seats: same thing about the heated seats....I have no front centre arm rest, so no switches for them either.
Thanks in advance

Does this apply here?

I don't do them like that, I will send you a picture of what I do :y
-
You really need to stick to the correct age seats for your car.
In this case, you will lose the seat heating functions.
-
like i said, not too fussed about the heated seats.
And they look good in grey and not black like the usual pre f/l ones i've seen.
Thanks loon, I'll have a crack at it and let you know.

Having installed the Passenger seat just fine, and it working
I went to install the Drivers one, but after connecting the wires etc as i should, It doesnt even move or make sound. With ignition on or off.
What have i done wrong, is there a fuse i should checking besides the ones under the steering wheel?
-
You need to do the wiring like Loo Knee has sent you. I think you need to add two extra lives IIRC
-
Thats just it.....
I've done everything to a teeee
I've done it exactly as shown in the diagrams and the pictures and the description he's sent me.
The seat doesnt work...
I really dont know what else to do.....I've had it out again and checked as best i can all the connections and plugs etc.
Nothing loose, no shorting wires, no dodgy plugs........
It's just dead...
-
Have replaced drivers seat with my original one for now while i investigate the drivers seat Mechs and Electrics.
There has to be something wrong.
I'm going to run lives to the motors individually, and work backwards from there.
I'd really hate it if its some hidden away never to be seen cable somewhere.
-
No extra wiring is required, just a modification of a couple of wires under the seat - all quite obvious if you look at the wiring diagram.
-
That probably explains why I have a leather passenger seat and a cloth drivers seat in my car...

I dont think anyone is getting me....
I'm not stupid....I know how its supposed to be wired up.
That is NOT the issue!!
The issue is a none working seat.
I have checked that the live feed is i'm using is working...and it is!
I am now going to have to check the seat bit by bit to see if there is a loose connection or a chaffed wire or something that i have missed.
I may run some lives to motors directly to see if they activate.

Never seen a total failure, only individual motor failure, hence suspecting a wiring fault.
Not sure which diagram you followed, but it needs multiple 12v and multiple grounds applied...

The issue is a non-working seat.

LOL....
I'm not sure how many times i can say it....
I am aware of the necessary Wiring.
I bought them off Darth Loo Knee and he has shown me how to wire them....as well as the above Link in the second post...I will add pictures of my wiring if it will help. But I a 99% sure that it is correct and it is soldered and secure.
It may well be the switch pack.
As there is no response at all regardless of how it is wired up.
The Main live is definitely active as it was used for the up/down of my old seat.
I have 3 wires connected to the Main live from the Elite Loom.
2 Wires connected to the Neg (-), as shown in the diagrams and examples pictures I have seen.
-

this is how it is wired right now.
Main red to Main red (+ve)
Small red to Main red (+ve)
Small black to main red (+ve)
Main Brown to Main Brown (-ve)
Small brown to Main Brown (-ve)
......like i said....seems right to me
-
Let me have a look at that - I do all mine on the main pwer connector into the bottom of the ECU box, as its easier/neater ;)
Digging out wiring diagrams, back in a mo
-
Your description looks right, but the picture looks odd - is that a cut off bit of loom?
As said, I always do it under seat, on the main power socket (X46 on wiring diags) - 3 x 12v and 2 x 0v
-
The loom is the part that clips onto the side of the seat, these are plugs...nothing has been cut on the seat side.
these two plugs just plug into the seat on the side......
I could do it under the seat at the main box, but then i'm cutting main seat wiring and running new cable...seems a bit pointless? Does it not?
Seems like the obvious way to do it.
I must be clear that the seat is not installed at the moment, I have had to replace my Old one for now, but i left the wiring in, as it just unclips.
-
That doesn't look right...
...can you (if its easy enough) give me a pic of underside of seat please? (where it all plugs into ecu control box)
-
Here you go,
Showing pictures of the underseat ECU box that all the wires lead to, and the motor wires lead from.
and also pictures of the plugs on the side that the loom i removed, connects to.

2nd pic down, 2nd connect from left (square, with big red and brown wires in)...
Join the 2 reds and the black together. Join the 2 browns together.
You do not need to adjust *any* other wiring from how you originally received things.
Can you take a pic of that connector so we can do a guide :y
-
Obviously dont touch the brown with white trace, thats used for something else (diags iirc)
-
Ok, well those are the same wires that i have already soldered in.
So the only difference in what you are asking me to do is remove the connectors from the lines.
It may be that these are a problem....but from the looks of them, i doubt that they are at fault.
I will try it and let you know.
-
From your first picture something doesn't look right to me with the multi wire grey plug. Why is the black wire not fastened to the red then both soldered to the main red? or is it my eyes??
-
It is your eyes, but it also isnt.
If you look at my first picture of the wiring. There is a black AND a red (small gauge) wired o the red. The black is underneath it.
BUT, if you look on the right hand side of that same picture, at the undeed wires that i had taped up, there is ANOTHER black, that looks EXACTLY the same to the eye.
Turns out it should have been that one.....
Who knew there was two of them running all the way back into the seat. And no way for me to tell them apart without removing all the shrouding which would have looked messy.
But there we go. All done now and working.
Thanks for the help.
-
Not my eyes after all ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Told you they worked :P :P :P :P :P
Great news though mate that you have it sorted now :y
-
i just rewrote the above post because you mentioned it was visible in the above picture.
Thanks

Glad your sorted, at least you can remove the bottle crate you were going to sit on ;D ;D ;D
-
haha yeah,
Was a bit difficult going around corners lol!!!! :D
Oh and while you're here.
Turns out i cant fit the rear door cards lol.
No biggie, not too fussed...it's because my rears are manual winders not electric and the elites door cards have put a pocket in the door where the Winder used to be in my design, so I cant even cut them and make it look neat.
I never really take passengers in the back so it will be of no consequence.
I've been looking for a front arm rest in black....you dont have one do you?
