Problem starting sometimes, engine cranks over, plenty of battery power, but will not fire.
Seems that there is no fuel geting through, but if I bump start it,it fires up straight away,I'm pulling my hair out trying to suss out the fault.
Like I said this only happens now and then, its really a pain in the butt trying to pin it down,no engine management lights on.
Could it be the fuel pump? .

try the paper clip to see what codes you have stored, crank sensor could cause this and may not throw up a code

Does it start from cold ok and then has problems warm/hot

Is it petrol or diesel???
If it is a hot engine and diesel, it could well be hot start issue... If it is anytime (either petrol or diesel), then get your codes (paperclip trick in maintenance guides) and expect to see code 19 for the crank sensor...

i have got the same problem but it wont start fro cold fine when hot.i thought crank sensor would not start from hot??

Crank sensor was replaced about 2 yrs ago,no smell of petrol when it refuse's to fire, hot or cold no different. As I said it only happens now and then.
I'll try the paperclip test over the weekend,I've never done that before through.
It only needs a tow a few yards before it starts,so it's really baffling me.
Thanks for suggestions
Alfie.

Thanks, that seems simple enough even for me.

Sorted,tried the paper clip trick,got a code 19.
the cable connecter was at fault, wasn't fully clicked into each other. Cleaned it up,resecured with a new tie and all ok.
Thanks for the help.
