What would you mean by engine surging?

the car accelerates then seems to be held back as if being hit by a stong gust of wind, if you can understand that :o

Air leak?  :-/

Possible? Would an exhaust leak cause it or even contribute to it?

Possibly related but when car is cold, and stopping at lights for example the revs take a long while to settle when holding it on the brake and a bit more so with rear demister on

That does sound like an icv/air leak issue.  Exhast leak would increase consumption/noise/smell

Brilliant, yet another problem to investigate.  Just when the list was getting smaller.  Any suggestions on how to solve? Or should i make a new thread?
