Title: Help Full Stop, I am blonde lol
Post by: car-nut on 08 May 2011, 23:11:26
I have an Omega C 2.2 Auto, and have a few questions,

I don't know if it is me or not but my car seems a bit sluggish, it has done 109000 miles, I average 32mpg, but I don't think it has been serviced for a while.

I have been hunting and hunting and am getting very frustrated as I can't find a Haynes manual for my car, or any kind of cheap service/repair guide for my car but there are lots for the Omega B. Can anyone help please?

Cheers.

The omega haynes manual concentrates on the v6.  As a 4 pot the extra c manual covers your engine iirc.  It's an easy engine to work on esp in such a big compartment.  I know the 2.0 pretty well and its a doddle to service  :y

The Haynes manuals don't cover post-2001 cars specifically. However, you'll find most things are similar between 2.2 and the earlier 2.0 which is covered, so the manual will still be worth getting.

Anything that's different, you can find the answer here easily enough. :y

I think you'll get most of your answers under 'maintenance' guides on here, with clear display and helpful opinions!  :y

You have an Omega-B, just the facelifted one. Mechanically similar in most respects to the one Haynes cover, so worth picking up a cheap copy of ebay.

Other Q's, ask here :y

The 2.2 wont win any races due to the cars weight, but will cruise along nicely

Pretty good for a 2.2 auto I'd have thought, as has been said I wouldn't expect it to be a ball of fire, I would guess you don't cane it to be getting this sort of consumption figure.

LOL, I don't cain it as I live in the countryside and have hardly anywhere to get my foot down. And am very conscious with the MPG display of how much fuel I am using as I am BROKE lol.

32mpg sounds quite impressive for a 2.2.
i didnt even hit the 20's when i had a  2.2,
and now with 3.2 i get better speed and better mpg   :) :)

I struggle to get above 30 m.p.g. in my auto estate even on a run, more like 25 m.p.g. on average and thats trying to be reasonably careful with the right foot!

I take it back about it being sluggish, it just feels slower because it is sooooooooo quiet and refined on the road where as my old Galaxy made you fully aware that you were picking up speed because of dodgy suspension, bad steering etc....

100km to 10L is about 28mpg, so not too bad.

Kitchen maths
10l = 2.2 gals
100km = 62 miles
62/2.2 = 28.1 mpg
