Title: Drive By Wire throttle
Post by: amba on 13 May 2011, 16:35:51
Work mate has a 2.2 which he is having issues with and has been laid up in his garage now for few weeks.

Went to start it today and found battery was totally flat.He managed to get it started from using jump leads from his wifes car and started but running very lumpy. When he went to press the accelerator pedal he had no response and he was unable to get the car to respond to any pedal command and rev at all.

In panic he called th AA and thye guy came out and diagnosed a throttle sensor which after calling VX was informed new they were circa £150.

He contacted me and asked what my opinion was ,but as I have the older style throttle cable set up I was unable to offer any advise so seeking any guidance from those in the know.

Is there any fuses or relays that could have been damaged by jump starting,as he has assured me it was all connected up correctly.

2.2 is always throwing P1555. First port of call is a good clean of the throttle body, and may`s well do breathers at same time. MAF has also been know to cause the same symptons
