Title: Looking for a level surface on the vehicle
Post by: Echo Beach on 17 May 2011, 19:11:25
Received wisdom is that one should check Oil, and the like, on a level surface.
My drive is not level.
Does anyone happen to know whether there are any surfaces, inside or outside of the car, which I can use to check that the vehicle is level, please?

Echo Beach,

As posted, any reasonably level piece of road / driveway /hard standing will be sufficient to get an accurate oil level reading.

No offence intended, but it's surely not worth all the effort of jacking the car and getting busy with a spirit level ??

Thanks for your responses.
I hadn't planned to resort to using the jack.
It sounds like the closest (to level) surface are the door sills.
Thanks
