Title: Blonde and Dumb, Engine Code Help Needed Please???
Post by: car-nut on 13 May 2011, 15:14:49
Hi, Hope the title didn't come across rude.

I have contacted Haynes directly about getting a Haynes manual NEW that covers my particular car, However they emailed me back saying that they didn't plan to do a Haynes manual for the 2.2 Omega C in the next 12 to 18 months unless they got enough interest. However they did offer me an aternative...

If I give them my engine code/number, they would try and locate a guide for the engine itself for me.

My engine is the 2.2 Petrol Automatic fitted to my 2001 Omega CD saloon.

Please can someone tell me what my engine code is and also if anyone is keen on getting a Haynes Manual for there particular engine can you also help me pester Haynes about it.

All help is much appreciated.

Cheers

Z22XE AFAIK

I doubt that Mr Haynes is likely to go to the effort of producing a manual for a car that went out of production 6 or 7 yrs ago. The 2.0 engine is basically the same unit and for all other info so one here will have already been there.  :y :y

I am guessing that if I bought a Haynes Manual for the facelift Vectra B which has the 2.2 engine that it would cover my 2.2 engine?

No, a very different engine (chain not belt driven for a start!)

Z22SE CHAIN DRIVEN

Haynes emailed me back as I provided both engine codes and they told me that engine code Z22SE was not fitted to the Vauxhall Omega's at all. So I am guessing it must be Z22XE. They recon that book number 3930 for the Vectra would cover my engine, but I trust the OOF more than the woman at Haynes!

So now I am VERY VERY CONFUSED!

Iirc Haynes don't do a manual for Omega C's

Also iirc that was the only vaux apart from the Zafira to have a Z22XE?

Probably because there is no such thing.

Omega A (Europe) = Carlton (UK)
Omega B (Europe) = Omega (UK)

There are 3 "variants" of the UK Omega ... Pre-facelift, Mini-facelift, Facelift.

that's it ... end of ... never was, is, or will be,  an Omega "C"

You say that about there being no Omega C but my local dealer and one 25 miles away both call it the Omega C

I wasn't having a go or anything, just pointing out what the dealers round here refer to it as.

Most refer to it as a C, easier than saying Omegafaceliftfrom2000onwards
