Title: Broken Sump
Post by: crossy on 18 May 2011, 23:02:04
Hi guys,
Broke A sump on a 2.5td omega. Hit the sump plug off a speed cushion and cracked all the threads.
Now I welded it re-drilled it and re-threaded it.
Its working perfect now but i am worried it will happen again and I look like a fool trying to get over the speed cushions.
The car isn't lowered or anything. I just find the sump hangs down a lot.
Is there any sump guard you can buy for the 2.5td or what would people recommend?

Some of thw Police Omega's had a large metal engine undertray.

These were V6's but, it might be possible to make it fit.

Take the council to court over the damage - they may look at dropping the cushions

One wonders at what speed you take the "cushions" to do so much damage ...

Sump
Alloys
Shocks  (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1305739839)

They are designed to slow you down .... might save you loads of money if you do so !!!

Sump was from the speed cushion
Alloys was from a huge pothole
And shocks were first new set after 202,000 miles (wear and tear)

Bad luck i suppose  :(

TBH, you'll probably have more luck fabricating one yourself or going to a local fabricators :-/
