Heater Bypass Valve ... sits at the back of the engine under the scuttle .. looks a bit like the starship enterprise ... its job is to stop the flow of hot water from the engine to the heater matrix when the aircon wants to provide cold air. It is controlled by a vaccuum supply energised by the climate control, no vaccuum gives hot water to the matrix, vaccuum turns off the water supply.

Prone to leakage, and tricky to replace due to the location of the clips ... part of the replacement tool requirement is a large packet of elastoplasts.

I never had that problem on my V6, just unclipped it and pulled it towards the drivers side.

It's in a nice easy place on the DTi!  :)

Even easier on the TD tractor...  ...but the V6 fun makes this little task worthwhile ::)
