Took a trip to Margate, needed gas when I arrived. Coupled up and 40 litres later I was away.. About 5 miles on I was cruising along at 60 when I noticed the 4 green lights drop to 3 then 2, 1 then red, all in about half a mile. Couldn't smell gas or hear any hissing so carried on, on came 1 green light, then 2, 3, and 4. For the next day driving around all 4 lights stayed on. Was ready to head back to Bedford, still had 4 green lights but thought I would top up, back to same garage, could I get the hose to couple up ? Could I hell ! Got back in the car switched on ignition, 'no green lights', just one red ?? Undaunted I started off on my journey. After less than 5 miles, I had my 4 green lights up again. About 30 miles on I pulled into a BP station and tried to couple up to the hose, ' could I hell' ? Back into car, ignition on, 'red light'. Continued on journey, green lights came back then acted normally going out one by one at the normal mileage intervals. Ran out of gas today, went to my normal BP station to try again, no luck coupling up. Went to see a chap who deals in LPG systems and fitting. He couldn't understand the problem but sold me and extension for £20. Back to BP fit extension, can't couple up ???? Is it me ????
Also on my trip to Margate, ( I will accept sympathy for going to that hell foresaken hole.) After stopping at a shop, I turned the key in the ignition, engine turned but wouldn't fire, most unusual for the old girl, 2 or 3 further attempts, 'nowt'. Foot on the accelerator, turn key, fires up. No further starting issues that day. Morning, leave hotel, turns, doesn't fire, foot down, turn key, fires up. Many further occasions of starting up that day, no problem. Next morning, no problem, today twice I've had to hit the loud pedal to get her to fire... Help appreciated.... ;)

Not being able to couple the hose is a strange one... I assume you've checked for debris in the filler?
The lights behaving strangely could be nothing or could be a fault indication... What system is it?
Starting issue... Paper clip/pedal test it and report back the codes... It may be the crank sensor ;)

The lights on mine light up in whatever sequence they choose too! I don't take any notice of them anyway, I just reset the trip meter after re-gassing and off I go. I get 200 miles outa my tank so I always know roughly how much is in the tank. ;)

Yeah, the lights are notoriously inaccurate and best bet is to work on mileage ;)

Sounds like 2 seperate problems to me ...
1) Bad contact on the indication side somewhere - can you check inside the gas tight box for all connections and what the direct gauge reads ??
2) Foreign object or a bent lug on the connector - good look inside with a torch ?? It only takes a small stone etc to prevent the connector going all the way in and it won't turn if it is not fully in .... if that makes sense !!

check the solonoid on the vapourier is working, it might be going open circuit when it gets hot, i had the same problem on my jeep and changed the solonoid, problem cured. :y

As others said, the electronic side of the gauges is notoriously rubbish. Many are simple, cheap, nasty wipers. During this time, did you check what the mechanical gauge on the tank said?
Filler issue, that has to be debris or damage - either should be obvious.
Obviously the bloke who deals in LPG systems that you went to see is a stupid retard, seeing as this is 'what he does'

when you say "couple up" what do you mean?
1) Physically impossible to get lugs to align, then rotate & lock?
2) It locks up ok, but no gas flows?

Sorry for lateness of reply, too many personal problems... :(
I did the pedal trick and got 2 codes.. 0300 & 0430..
When trying to 'couple up', I can get the pump nozzle onto my connection, but then I can only rotate it about an eigth of a turn, then it stops solid.
As to the manual gauge, 'I don't think I have one'... :-[ Don't know ?
Had to go and pick my lad up tonight, car hadn't been used since early afternoon, certainly a whiff of 'bad eggs' in the car.... :-[

0300 is Random Missfires, 0430 is one of the Cat Efficiency codes.
I reckon the coupling thing is probably a foreign object in either your filler or the nozzle. I have had it before where it's taken a couple of attempts to get it to couple up and also had it where I couldn't fill from one pump (in Luxembourg) but could from another one in the same petrol station ::)
A Dutch guy pulled onto the pump I couldn't get to work and it was fine :-/ :-/ We had a great conversation about LPG actually as he was filling a big old Yank Tank :y :y

Looks to me like that little brass bar should be inline with the locating pegs ???? :-/

So could the tank be full, hence not accepting fuel. Yet the level thinks it's empty and swithes back to petrol? Or does the lack of gas pressure govern switch back regardless....?
Is there a problem with the multivalve? Are they expensive?

Got to say Chris, after driving 300 miles, if that 60L tank is still full, 'I'm really onto a winner'... ;) I really cannot comment on 'not accepting fuel', as previously stated I cannot get the pump connection onto the car connection... :-[

Can anyone reccomend somewhere to get this LPG system looked at ???
