Hi
I have my engine management light on (after changing the cat -not original but type certified from eurocarparts). Doing the pedal trick, I get
10.1.3.10 - o2 sensor 1 circuit voltage low
10.5.6.10 - system voltage low input
10.1.1.10 - intake air temp (IAT) signal voltage low
10.1.4.1 - o2 sensor 2 heater voltage high
I disconnected the battery and it went away, but its back and wont go away. Im wondering if its a duff cat, so I'm gettin my original welded up to put back n check.
Cant see how the lambdas both died, so I was thinking of getting an interface and software to check live running values from the miggys diag port.
Anyone recommend anywhere to get it from, or maybe even a handheld unit...
Am I missing anything interpreting the fault codes ?
Car is running perfect too... MOT due in a month or 2...

Im in North London...
I also tried the turning ignition on and off 30 times to try n clear the fault code memory buffer, but it didnt work on mine...
If it was a faulty sensor and it was replaced, would the fault light clear by itself ?
Thats why I want to get in to the diagnostic port, either with a hand held or with a laptop and interface, so can check the running values and reset the error light...

OK, you still have a fault, but ideally need to clear them all and see what comes back before going further.
There is a meeting near High Wycombe on Bank Holiday, and there will be diags equipment there ;). Though possibly not until later afternoon ::)

I was looking at getting whatever I needed to connect to the diag port so I can monitor the sensor data realtime, and reset the fault codes myself. No doubt it will come in handy for the future.
I seen Sealey and others do those small hand held diag units, or the USB or serial interfaces and the diag software.
Theres generic OBD2 stuff, and theres Vauxhall specific stuff too that gives you more scope on what you can monitor.
Any recommendations on what to get or where to get it. Theres quite a few on Ebay, but Im not a fan of buying electronic stuff from there.

I have the MaxScan GS500 and am very pleased with it. Does, mostly, everything I need ..

It only does engine ECU, and a very tiny part of Transmission ECU... would be nice if it "talked" to a few more ECU's ... :(
Live data is also limited and requires some "interpretation" to make sense of it.
However, for most engine problems, and for resetting the EML, - both active and stored codes - it is very easy to use and reliable.

You think it will be OK for my problem (O2 sensors etc... after a cat change) Theres a model up from that one too... Cant work out what extra it does though...

Yep, I know where Finchley is, and yes, I am a part time mobile mechanic, specialising only in the Omega, having just re-established the business as a joint venture with my partner, who is also enthusiastic with cars! :y
I stick to what I'm good at - which is 2.0/2.2 and V6 engine mechanics, so cambelts, servicing, and engine repairs.
Although I do my own wishbones, etc, suspension is not my strong area, so I leave this area alone. I also don't touch diesels.
I do have diags though, to read live data, and read/reset codes, so could certainly shed some light.
PM me a phone number - if (and only if, mind, as I've got a lot to do!) I finish at a good hour on Saturday, I'll come home via you.

Ok... looks like the Autel 509 is a pretty good tool, and from BeatTheGarage it is about £80... There is also a 609 model which does ABS, TPMS and manufacturer enhanced DTC's as well as everything the 509 does.
It is only about £20 more so seems like a good way to spend £20...
If anyone else wants a code reader/scanner we should be able to get a discount if we collectively order one. Im waiting on a call back to find out when the 609 will be in stock and what sort of discount they will give if a few are bought at the same time...

The question is really 'what cars do you want to use the tool on and how many ECU's do you want to attach too?'

Right now I just need it to help diagnose the o2 sensors (see my first post of error codes), but its one of those things where paying an extra £20 for the 609 over the 509 to give you the extra transmission and ABS etc readings seems like a worthy investment...
I dont need all the functionality of the 609 right now, but it might well come in handy in the future... And as OBD2 is a kinda generic protocol, I might be able to help out other people with different makes of car too...
Theres one called an MD801 that does loads more, but is £250, and there is a 310 that will do all what I need right now for about £40...
For £100 the 609 seems just about right to me...
Only thing is they might not be available until mid june, so it might have to be the 509... I'm waiting on a call back ...
Looks like I'll just be buying two, one for me and one for a mate... Doesnt seem to be much interest from the guys on here...
