Hi all,
For a while now I've had an intermittent fault which has got more frequent lately whereby the engine runs rough(shakes)when put in gear(under load)but will rev. up to high revs. smoothly when throttled slowly but splutters when throttled quickly.
Once the car is in top gear it seems to drive fine, even under harder acceleration?
I've done a paper clip test which only brings up code 145 which is to do with the immobiliser so assume this is an old stored code?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated as i don't have the money to start changing things willy nilly :(.
Many thanks,
Pete :).

I'd start with Plugs, Leads and DISPack.
Likely to be DISPack to be honest. Works fine when under light load, but struggles when outputting high power.

As said...first port of call would be to pull the leads out and see if there is oil in the plug wells...oil will be coming from leaking cam covers caused by blocked breathers if there is...check the rubber on the leads while your doing it to check for any cracks or splits...if no oil check the plugs to see how clean they are...good chance though the dispac will need replacing...not too bad a job to do yourself :y

You must have small hands and arms that a contortionist would die for! ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for the answers given.
Theres no oil in the plug wells, breathers cleaned not many miles ago and new plugs and leads fitted along with cam cover gaskets at same time.
Is there a way to test the Diss. pack without removing it or could anyone think of another cause for my problem if Diss. pack OK :-/.
Thanks,
Pete.
