Hi again, as I slowly work my way through all the niggles and problems, I have another I could do with some hints / tips on where to look.
I seem to be loosing oil and therefore need to keep it topped up.
No obvious signs of leaks on the ground after being parked, although does appear to be a bit oily on the underside of the engine.
Hadn't noticed this before, but got stuck at 40mph behind a couple of trucks on the way to work this morning, upon hitting a short dual carriageway section I booted it a bit to get past them both and noticed a bit of a smokey exhaust during the hard acceleration.
Any thoughts on places to look, check for small leaks or signs of leakage?
cheers

Quite likely to be valve stem seals, unless you have heavy external leakage somewhere. Ours is starting to use quite a lot too, and I'm fairly sure it's this.
Just keep topping it up, the cat will burn most of it off fairly harmlessly most of the time.

I assume no heavy leakage as I never get oil on the ground under the car even if stood for a couple of days. Ill have to give it a closer inspection for any other signs of external leaks, but haven't seen any yet.
I take it the valve stem seals is a bit of a job then? :P
