I've just picked up a 2001 2.6 Elite with light front damage and now trying to decide if to repair it or break it as the rest of the car is in a lot better condition than I thought. It's only done 92000 and has full history.
I can clearly see it needs a new headlight, bumper and bonnet but it looks like the bar behind the bumper is bent but can't see anything else at this minute. I take it the bar behind the bumper is just bolted on??.....so is this easy to replace??
-
sounds like a pretty easy fix, if nowt else has been touched.
-
What colour ? ::) ;)
-
if it didn't pop its airbags it couldn't have had that much of a clout
-
It's in silver and no there was no airbag deploments.
I can't believe how clean it is for price, would have preferred it with leather but can always add it later. What about this bar behind bumper. Is it just bolted on and if so how much would I expect to pay for one ?
-
Bolted 2 x17mm (IIRC) nuts each side. Should be able to pick one up for next to nothing. Gave one to the local scrappy for sod all two days ago

Got one here, but delivery probably a bit pricey. ;)

Well just an update. I've had a closer look today and parts I stated earlier are shot, however I also found the radiator appears to have had it and maybe the air con rad. When I topped the water bottle up it Poured straight out of the bottom corner. Also on removing dad cover it is plain to see that the aircon rad has a big v in the middle and has been pushed back. How easy is this to change and hOw much would you expect to pay ?

Also the slam panel has a couple of dents in it so how easy is this to change.. Is that just bolted on as well?
-
A/C condenser easy enough to change (obviously a/c will be empty), especially as you`ll be replacing radiator. Condenser around £115 mark.

A million spot welds, can`t they be banged out
-
Condenser/drier here, decent quality :y

Mine had a smack - wasn't too bad to repair, radiator was fine though

Already started stripping her down, and now have another question.
On removing the passenger side headlight I have found that its only the plastic lense cover that is damaged. Is it possible to buy replacment covers as this just unclips??
-
The lens cover on the lights are stuck on...black gooey stuff and has some plastic clips on that clip to the main black housing...you can replace them but I dont think its a part you can get from Vauxhall...probably cheap enough to find a replacement from a breaker on here....I have a decent facelift HID headlight but I think its drivers side unfortunately
If its just a few minor dents on the slam panel just knock them out...
Front bumper support is held on by 4 nuts...once the front bumper is removed its very easy to get the support off :y
Radiators/condenser are pretty easy to replace...good second hand ones should be easy enough to get from a breaker
All depends on what you want to spend on it really...its all cost...that said once you have the parts its probably a couple of hours to sort at most :y
Stick a picture up of the car as it is to help judge...also is it manual or auto?
