Title: Nearside repeater

I know I shouldn't do this, but I think that developments since my original post mean a new thread is in order.

My nearside repeater is not working and it would appear that no power is getting to the bulb. Can anyone help in explaining where the cable goes back (after leaving the area behind the wheel)? Does it connect directly to the flasher unit or does it join up with another loom somewhere?  :-?

Sounds silly but have you checked the plug to the indicator itself? I have come across a few that the connector has simply come off and is dangling inside the wing. Hardest job is fishing the wire back out of the hole so you can re connect it. .. :y

That was my initial problem, Daz. Nearly failed the MoT because of the malfunction. When I took the unit out to change the bulb, I found the connector was...well, not connected. Fished out the cable and reconnected..no joy. Changed bulbs..no joy. Tested with multimeter...no power and no joy.  :'( ;)

The wires from the side repeater go through the inner wing - at the top/rear - and come into the compartment where the pollen filter sits. They immediately go into a larger loom (lights/ indicators I would imagine) and go through the bulkhead into the passenger compartment.
Haynes shows one of the wires joins to one of the wires which supplies the indicators on that side of the car, which then goes to the indicator switch. The other wire joins into the other supply wire for the indicators on that side which then goes to the hazard warning switch.
I suppose its a choice of tracing the wiring and carrying out continuity tests, or you could open the insulation up slightly where  the 2 wires  join into the larger piece of loom and test for power there. If there is power there just replace the connector and two wires, joining them into the loom where you know there is power supplied.
I have the connector and wires for the repeater here if you need it Nick. :y

Thanks, Albs. Not a job I relish as it's a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack. However, your cable route description gives me something to go on. :y :y
