when you send your ecu away to get refurbed what is it they actually do ??? is it like a new program or what

Which ECU ?? and why are you "sending it away" ... for repair or modification ??

Ahhh the ABS ECU.

they repair a broken, tiny, Bond wire

So thats the ABS ECU . ... they will dismantle it and "redo" the burned out/broken connections from the plug to the board. There is a photo on the forum somewhere of the damage that occurs.

It needs a "special" piece of equipment to "redo" these connections due to 1) the materials used 2) the damage that would be caused by direct heat.

BBA-Reman did mine a few years back .. £130 with a 2 year warranty and it was back in less than a week. I was very pleased with the job and the speed. :)
