Title: Best Insurer for 3.0 Elite
Post by: Hudson on 13 June 2011, 16:15:31
Ok,

I am 47 yrs old, 9 yrs NCB and am looking to insure a 2000 3.0 Elite for 3rd party, fire & theft....... can anybody recommend the cheapest company. I have had a quote of £480 which appears steep on a car worth about £1000 !

try fully comp!

often cheaper as daft as that sounds.

also adding a family member can reduce it!

then try on gocompare, confused, meerkat etc.

Thats around the price I'm paying this year. It had gone up from just under £300 last year! >:(
I'm 40 with max no claims, clean licence etc etc, although it seems these days no claims dicount means bugger all now :(

Its just a rip off, insurance, fuel, MOT costs....Grrrrr  >:( >:( >:( >:(

A little off topic, but when I last looked at price comparison sites they not only ask for driving offfences, but criminal offences as well.
Now I can understand the driving offences, but what has a criminal conviction got to do with it, and before you ask I was bound over to keep the peace many years ago( a domestic with my ex wife). If I don't declare it they can turn round and refute any claim for non disclosure, but double the premium if I do.
In my case I just stick with my present insurer who didn't ask such a stupid question.
My insurance this year is around £400 fully comp, full no claims protected, £100 excess.

Since when does having a dis-agreement with someone have any bearing on your driving ability?

They should be hitting idiots who sit in middle lanes, have no forward observation skills and are a downright danger to themselves and other road users!!

I pay around £175 for the MV6 and around £250 for the Elite, both fully comp, both with declared mods, both with Mrs TB as named driver.

Knocking the MV6 to TPFT increased the premium.

The generally like named drivers as well - spouses or close relatives.

My insurance has varied wildly between £140 and £450...hopefully will go down when the missus is old enough to add as a named driver to my insurance :y

Didn't think anyone did quotes like this any more, what's your secret? I searched on more than a couple of comparison sites and couldn't find anything below £500. And I'm 39 with 10 years NCB, fully comp  :P

Seems to be a glitch every now and again mate, I have mostly paid between £300-400 then suddenly changed car and it dropped to £170...then another car change and its back up...considering I only get 3.0v6 Omegas and all about the same age...should be consistent but it never is!
