Title: Locking wheel nuts
Post by: funtimefrankies on 15 June 2011, 12:52:42
Hi I have a 53 plate Omega, i don't have the key for the locking wheel nuts or the box with the locking nut key number.
I went to my local Vauxhall dealer for help and they said the car was too old and couldn't get the Key for me BUT would try and chisel it off. 8years istn't that Old!!!

Does anyone have any ideas how to get them off or get a replacement locking wheel nut key

Dealers charge around £50 to get a replacement key, but I think they require a code number.
I got mine off myself by hammering a 24mm socket over the top of the collar and spot welding it through the drive hole.

Most back street garages will have off for a few quid though! :y

Complete and utter 'dangle berries'.

You need to get the car pass, this will have details on which type was used. You can then buy replacement key. I got a replacement for my 2000 plate  :y

They are soft as toffee though, once removed, bin them!  :)

Find someone with a VX with similiar wheel nuts, and borrow theirs.
My neighbour has a Veccy, and ours are exactly the same

One of the locking wheel nuts on my Tourer was so tight it caused the key to shear, as said, it's quite a common occurrence with Vx. wheel nuts. I've always gotten 'em off with a 19 m.m. multi point socket and a hammer to make it fit...
