Title: Steering problems
Post by: duncan mitchell on 16 June 2011, 14:21:59
I had both wishbones replaced on my S reg omega 3 ltr. estate 12 months ago. My mechanic said he had changed other bushes and moving parts though not exactly sure what!? He told me to get it tracked properly after doing the work as the steering wheel was off center. After several attempts I was led to believe job done!?I drove to France and back and noticed the car pulled to the left when braking. twelve months on I have got to the stage where the car has a mind of it's own when it comes to steering!?
The camber adjustment seems to be an issue. It should have been re-set when the wishbones were done it now comes to light!
I got mechanic to ring Blackboots for some tips, as they seemed to be the only ones that gave me any confidence in knowing what was needed. the situation is now that having followed Blackboots instructions the car drives almost!!? right. However, it still occasionally goes into Bambi mode!?
I've had enough now! I had to have 2 new tires on the front, as the inner edges had worn right down - the drivers side went passed the canvas!? It's cost a fortune in tracking and it still aint right and I've got another French trip to do in August! HELP!!

You need to go to wheels in motion for a full set up. If you search this site for WIM you'll find loads of info :y

as you say, the camber setting is causing the wear.

next question - what make wishbones were fitted, some only last a year depending on the bushes!

if they are the problem, either swap for good quality wishbones, or polybush your current ones.
