Not that likely, IMHO. Very few were fitted to civilian cars and not as many as the folklore suggests to plod cars.
I think the recommendation is usually to go for something like BOA90LS from opie oils, although dealers do sell the additive.

Not from the outside, no. If you can still find the tag with the part number and ratio on, I think it can be worked out from that, but they normally become illegible pretty early on in their life.
Best way to tell is to remove the backplate of the diff and have a look.
The other option is to find an empty car park and provide some "driver inputs that would exercise a limited slip diff" and see what happens. ;)
