Given even the last made was around 2003, are there cars out there with 'genuine' low miles and that have been looked after properly by an owner who washes it using lambs wool mitts and only carry's balloons in the boot !!!!
-
This was about the best I have seen

That is a lovely car, and for the miles, condition and LPG was an absolute bargain. My ideal would be either in silver with grey leather or gold with matching gold leather. Don't mind if no LPG as my annual miles will be very low, but condition and service history is very important. I will keep looking on this forum and the usual ebay and autotrader. Thanks for the link
-
Yep... That certainly is a nice example :y
My only complaint about it would be that the LPG has been fitted a little untidily (by my standards) with straws into the plenum ::)
But that is just me being a bit picky... If it had been the Estate I was searching for I'd have snapped his arm off ;) :y

I have just recently bought mine (an 1999 Elite 3.0 auto) that was about as mint that you could expect a truly original one to be. 70k on the clock and kept in a warm garage all its life. There were not even polish 'rings' on it and the only tiny blemish was a 5p size bit of damage to a rear wheel arch! The drivers seat has one tiny crease, the back seats had been sat on twice and the toolkit and first aid kit had never been opened! Only thing that spoiled it was it had been de-badged (they are back on now) and it had an Irmscher front grille (that is going to be changed too) for the as new original which had been saved and carefully packed. LPG - you can keep it cos on my previous ones it was more bother than it was worth.
Any other would have be going some to beat its condition as will be seen as soon as I get around to posting pics of 'goldie'.
;D

I'm sure I'm not alone amongst this forum but if you spend a bit of time scouring through the bay of fleas for every 200 - 300 migs you will see a minter.
Sometimes they are cheap as chips when the seller doesn't realise what they have, however it always makes me chuckle when a dealer has one and they try to get £4k for it!
Also plenty of dogs! when I first got back to migs about this time last year I looked at 4-5 absolute pigs!
Amazing what you can get for your cash though!
-
But the pigs have a decent breaking value lol :y

Very true, i am in no hurry, i only really need the car for when the bad weather comes in towards winter, it's then i need to put the motorbike away and start using a '' car '' for the really bad days. I guess i will need to see a few dogs to know when a good one comes up. The search continues.

When I bought my cdx 3 and a half years ago I paid top money for it off a dealer. It had warranty with it and was advertised as outstanding throughout. When I saw it it was mint and has been virtually trouble-free since I bought it. It is a 2001 Y Reg and is now serviced by Darth Loo Knee :y

Which goes to show that buying the right car is what sets you up for possible trouble free motoring..... i will be searching fleabay and autotrader every few days. I will keep you all informed.

And don't think that, owned by an older couple and with fsh means you will not have any problems..... :'( :'(

Low milage doesn't seem to make much difference either,my 406 has done almost 3 times the milage of my mig but has had no issues at all whereas the mig has had several >:( :'(

And a comprehensive Vauxhall Service History means nothing either, as can be attested to by at least 2 of us ;) ;)

alot of the time it's down to luck, even with brand new cars you regularly hear about bad ones.
Often you're better off getting one that needs a bit doing and getting it sorted.
Look at dlk's mv6 as an example, I don't know the car but read the for sale posts and you'll get the idea. :y
-
Ime the only way to hopefully buy one which wont have a lot of issues is to get one which has been serviced properly. This means buying a known car from another member or talking to the owner to see if they know how to look after them, and then seeing the reciepts to prove it.
If they havent been looked after properly it can be similar to running a 1970,s Italian sportscar - the "to do" list just never seems to end.
My first one was dealer serviced all its life, but the problems started just after I bought it and were just about all sorted just before I sold it,which was a few years later.

A lot of money but it is a minter :y
-
That looks like it will make someone very happy!
-
A genuine minter! I've seen worse for more cash too.
-
Just had a £3,450 bid turned down
-
Worth £4k all day long imo. ;)

I also agree! If it was an estate, I suspect that myself and a certain LD would be fighting over it! ;) :y

I bought my 2.2 CDX for £1800 on a 2000 plate, I have had her for 3 yrs and love the pants off her, she has done 133374 miles and drives like a dream. she has a few scratches and some very small dents, but hey, shes an old motorI would have posted some pics but dont know how to post them. :)
-
It is gorgeous, but would I be alone in being wary of a car that has done so few miles relative to it's age?
The worst car I ever bought was my mum's old Citreon ZX, that she had had from new. I bought it off her at 7 yrs old, when it had done just 31K. It was a total money pit, especially in gasket and hose type problems.
This lovely miggy has been carefully serviced, but cars are made to be driven, and don't fare well when very lightly used......
