Title: Climate Control Has Died, Advice needed please?
Post by: car-nut on 06 June 2011, 22:51:29
My climate control displlay all works, When you press all the buttons everything on the display appears and dissapears as it should but I get NOTHING from the vents.

It was working perfectly the other day apart from my aircon that needs re-gassing.

Any Idea's pllease?  :( ::) :'(

First check the fuse, if this is not the case then the problem is either the fan motor or, in my case the switch rheostat....... :)

Someone more experienced will come along and advise if I have got this right... :y

Friday came and I ended up at the doctors having to get more medication due to lifelong physical disabilities, So am REALLY ANNOYED at myself for not getting this done and am still feeling bad now, Tomorrow I am heading over to my friends house who is fitting my passenger side steering idler for me and I might ask nicely if he can help me fit this heater module too.

I got 1 big question left and am a bit worried about this. My mum brought the part over as she bought it and it was delivered to hers. And like most breakers I have come across the part has permanent marker writing all over it to stop ppl sending naff parts back. However the writing is on the metal hedgehog part as well! Will this effect the part from working?

Stop bumping.

Pointless, against the rules, puts folks backs up.

4 times in 40 minutes ??? Guess impatience is your middle name.

I have not bumped at all. I was using my mobile phone to access the site and kept refreshing the page I was on on my mobile which I didn't realize was repeating what I wrote, however I am now on my laptop.

I will say that the job wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I will be doing a write up on how to do it with a picture to show where it is.

Here is what happened. My mate came over and dismantled what needed to be dismantled and found the hedgehog he put in wasn't in anymore as it had fallen out, but as it turned out both Hedgehogs are working, we used a multimeter and tested all the wires to the heater motor. Then tried the old fashioned wire direct from the battery to the fan which made it work. My mate the unplugged all the plugs 1 by 1 and cleaned the connectors and put it back together and hey presto, FULLY WORKING AGAIN. YAY.

But not the car is off the road as I popped into town this morning and had to drive back at 15 mph as the car was shaking me to hell, Well yesterday there was an almighty bang, and today my mate got under the car and found the full reason for the play in my steering and the real fault for tramlining. It is the inner track rod end has completely had it. There is soooooooo much play in it. So another friend of mine is Giving me there old Ford Escort 1.8 Ghia to keep. I am not getting rid of my Omega, and will put it back on the road as soon as I can. This has made me very sad as I struggle with manual cars due to my disability but that is life for you!

But a BIG THANK YOU to everyone that helped me on this as I would never have got it sorted without ALL the advice I have been given.

Looks like I will be able to fix the omega just as the Escort is due to arrive lol. But glad to have the escort as it will be here in time for the MOT of the Omega. So if the omega fails I have atleast got a car to use for now.
