i know its advisable to change the waterpump on your car/v6 when you undertake a timing belt change, i just wondered if the interval was the same on the 3.2 as it is on the other v6's or whether there was a longer period between changes?
you advice gratefully appreciated :)

It's an identical setup as the other V6s, so the same advice applies.
Since the cam belt doesn't drive the pump, it's less critical than on a 4 pot, and more a case that, if you're paying someone labour to change the cam belt, it might make sense to do the water pump at the same time.
Personally, I don't change the pump with every cam belt change because, if I did have issues with it, it wouldn't be the end of the world, just an hour's job to change it.
If I had a "new to me" car with an unknown coolant history I might change it as a matter of course as it could be less reliable, and removing the pump allows a more thorough coolant flush to be carried out.
At the most I would say change it every other cam belt change (80K miles).

Thanks Kevin. I will do mine as part of the rebuild following hg failure but useful to know for future reference :)

On my third omega. 2.5 to 147k.
3.2 to 105k
This one, 3.2 with 67k on it. Just changed the cam belt kit, and bought a w pump as well. Didn't fit it as the original had zero play in the baring and spun nice and smooth. It will go on next time though.
I have so far never fitted a water pump on a v6 of mine, and never found any play or concern with them.
However I concider myself lucky in that regard on the 2.5 in my pre forum days.

I found this the hard way, and only about 3 months after I had the cam belt changed..... :-[ :-[ so new water pump and another cam belt, as failing pump damaged it...... :-[ :-[ ::) ::)

I've maybe done 300,000 miles in Omega V6s and never changed one yet
