Title: Rear Spring upside down!!
Post by: Omega 37 on 27 June 2011, 18:10:45
I just noticed that one of my rear rear springs is upside down!
It has an arrow with TOP written next to it,,,,,,,, which points to the road!!!
Should I ring the garage that fitted it  :-?

Err, yes!

Did they fit the other one correctly (I assume they were compitent enough to replace as a pair)?

Whoops - I'd get that fixed if I was you - ask for the fitter who can see and read  ;)

Another company for the miss list :-?

I discussed the Arrow direction with the manufacturer when I fitted new springs they said it did not matter which way around they went. Then why an arrow?

Didn't think it mattered. But then why print an arrow?

What springs are they?

I have a new set of springs waiting to go on, there are no markings or arrows on them....... :-/

No markings at all....what make are they!

As for the direction, there are some minor differences in the coil sizes (and wire thicknesses) between top and bottom on the decent quality ones.

Bit of a puzzler but I would anticipate that if arrows are printed on them then any COMPETANT fitter would fit them correctly as per the arrow direction and wording. Not to do so implies that they were not competant and could not care less - or maybe just blind in one eye....... :D
Just for a laugh I would take it back and insist that they were fitted as per the directional arrows and for free too! Then of course do not use their services again and tell all your friends of the service standards they employ.
DLK fitted both mine with both arrows pointing up (top) just as the printed arrows and words stated on the coil.
Hope you make em suffer! :y

They are Boge, and I appologise because they do have an arrow but very faded. I bought these cheap because they had been on the shelf for years.

I suspect the biff you spoke to probably didn't know his arse from his elbow.  Although I couldn't say what difference it would make.

I do know they wouldn't go to the effort/cost of printing an arrow on just for the sake of it...

I fitted new KYB rear springs from buypartsby last week and neither had an arrow. Both ends looked identical.
