Post by: willerby on 05 July 2011, 20:39:20
Hi, the front door stay seems to have broken off from the door. How easy are they to replace. Many thanks.

You sure it's just the stay that's broken or has the door ripped?
There's a guide here .....  :y http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152902108

Even if it has, you can still get away with a sandwich of reinforcing plates either side of the door skin to hold the stay. My driver's door has been like that for the past 4 or 5 years (although my plates are home made from stainless) with no problem.  :y

The colour is metallic blue and located in Essex. Is this repair for a ripped off door stay or to stop the cracking noise. Many thanks.

Have you read it all?  :-?
The repair is for a ripped/ripping door where the stay bolts. The cracking noise may be cured simply by the replacement of the plastic washer .... if you're lucky and the door itself isn't damaged.

The door check strap moves back into the door when it is being closed so is not fixed anymore. What do the new plates secure to ?
