Title: My driveway is like the tar sand of Alberta
Post by: Clock on 09 May 2011, 13:53:53
I've had the cam cover gaskets replaced 3 times in the last two years. The last two were original VX parts. Looks like they've gone again. I've given up on my local garage. Any OOF mechanics near Liverpool prepared to solve the problem once and for all?
Whilst it's all in bits I could do with the dodgy valve stem seals replacing at the same time.

Have the breathers been cleaned at all during the last 3 or 4 years?

Last time the gaskets were done I gave the garage the 'How to...' notes off the site, so I presume they cleaned the breathers.
I'll give Elite Pete a pm. He's not too far away

its possible that the bolts have been over tightened and warped your covers

possible ..... but more likely they fobbed him off when they allegedly cleaned the breathers.  ::) ::)

Given that Elite Pete is near-ish, and gets good feedback, I'd be inclined to give him a call.  If he is too busy, its certainly worth considering the longer journey to Darth Loo-knee  :y

I just want to thank everyone for all thier advice. Elite Pete sorted out the cam cover gaskets and the valve stem seals as well as a few other niggles.  Great guy and so helpful. The cars running better than it has for the last few years. I just need to jet wash the oil away from the driveway.
Thanks
Kevin
