Title: **LOCKED KEYS IN BOOT!!** (Update: Happy Ending!)
Post by: Neil_MV6 on 25 July 2009, 16:13:20
I've locked my keys in the boot and i don't have a spare.  :(

Does anyone know an easy way to get in?

Don't post responses for obvious reasons but if anyone could PM me I'd be grateful.

Cheers guys, breakdown on the way.

I did manage to get some strong cord wrapped around the interior lock but do you think it would lift? Not on your Nelly!

DON'T break any windows, if you don't get in let me know and I'll PM you to let you know how, the breakdown people should know how to anyway, the rac do anyway, I've locked the keys in the boot too before!

If it is deadlocked you have real problems, if not then it's a doddle.

It's deadlocked and they couldn't get in, gonna pm vxomega1978 and see if he can help.  :question

Typically, I lost my keys a couple of weeks ago and just didn't give getting a replacement any priority.

On the bright side (tryin to convince myself here  :-/ ), nice to know the car's secure!

The only other way i can think of without smashing windows is underneath the boot.

Drop the petrol tank, and pump, and bash your way through the inspection hole, is the boot full of stuff? You should be able to move the carpet around enough from that hole to get a hand in and hopefully find the key?  :-/

Sorry for the daft question, but how does a car end up deadlocked with the only keys in the boot?

Picture this.

You walk away from the car deadlocking it.

You go shopping.

You got back to the car, you take your keys and press the button on the remote to open the boot only.

Your put you shopping in the boot and sit the keys down too by mistake.

You close the boot.

You never unlocked the doors, they remain deadlocked and the keys are in the boot.

I've experienced this.  ::)

Easy on facelift saloon, the car can be locked, you press the boot release on the remote (which does NOT unlock the car) only release the boot. You put shopping in, keys accidently fall in and you shut it.

Your then donald ducked.

I did this once on a BMW, I was very lucky to find a really good breakdown company that sent someone who priced part of thw wire loom out and fed a current to the boot release wire. Took a few hours but great job! I had already broken a window to find out that deadlocked, means deadlocked! >:(

Update:

It worked! vxomega1978's method worked and I unlocked the car in about half an hour with no damage done. It's surprisingly easy.

Now for the twist in the story.....you may have guessed, the leys weren't there. It now appears that my girlfriend Andrea (micky taking positively encouraged by everyone ALL weekend at Newent!!!) picked them up Friday evening by mistake, thinking thay were hers.  She then changed her mind about going out and so they were sat in her coat pocket.

Who's "so clumsy" dear????  :-?

Thanks for all the help guys. The help and advice from this forum is priceless.  :y
