Title: She wants to overheat?
Post by: danzigfan on 10 July 2011, 13:03:40
Hello, I just came home from work but didn't  know if I will make it. Doing around 90 mph on highway after some 30 km temp gauge started to rise slowly to almost 97/98 degrees. Stopped for a few minutes and checked - no oil in water, no water leak, both fans running, no oil leak, no mayo under oil cap. She has new rocket cover gasket, new water pump.... It' s 33 degrees outside in a shadow.... What could it be ?

I reckon that's your answer! ^^:D
The fans are sucking in really hot air so heat transfer will be not as efficient as normal. Are you using the AirCon? This usually drops the engine temperature by several degrees :y

Yes, A/C on and it does drop temp for few degrees  but I was afraid it will rise even more. Thanks

Your picture shows a temperature well within the normal range.  If your rad is hot and both fans are working, I wouldn't worry about it.

You know, many years ago I had something that was trying to be a car - never was or will be one. Peugeot, constantly tending to overheat. That's why I'm so easily irritated by temp gayge rising. Thank you too

Driving mine 2 weeks ago
31 degree's outside
Motorway / fast roads
Air con switched on

Temp sat between 97 and 99 degree's

I believe the fan on the V6 is a two stage fan which comes in around 97 degree's then full power at around 99 degree's  :-/

I'd keep a eye on the coolant level but other then that, don't worry  ;) ;)

Thanks, so I'll just keep an eye on temp if that's the way it is :y
