Rock the steering wheel at the same time as trying to turn the key... It will go eventually

That's the way to go, but the word might is missing from that advice.

It is also worth getting a can of switch cleaner from Maplins and giving the lock barrel several generous squirts. WD40 or similar is NOT  the stuff to use!

Glad to hear you got it feed up.

There are pictures and how-to instructions in the Maintenance Guides section if you want to sort it out yourself.  See the index here (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1259003779), they are under the ICE / Electrical section.

Worn keys are the cause of many of these problems so get a decent key cut if you can and if not get a new ignition switch and key blades barrell from the stealers.
Only graphite powder should be bused to lubricate any lock!
The remote fobs will not be affected.

It's unlikely to be the key, it will be the brass "tumblers" inside the barrel ;)

I'm sure there's a guide to sorting it and it's easy enough... I watched Mark DTM do it in a field over the weekend ;) ;)

Yep It was my barrel Mark very kindly used to give on lookers a lesson on refurbishing it works a treat now and not   very hard to do as long as you do it on a tray to avoid losing any bits :y
