Title: MID display fuel consumption wrong
Post by: Mardu on 08 July 2011, 10:18:29
Hi, everybody!

I'm having a problem with my '98 2,5 TD Omega (X25DT). The MID display gives me false information about the consumed fuel. When the actual consumption has been about 60 litres, the MID shows only 50. If it were 1-2 litres, it would be ok, but this is too much. There should be no leaks, so I'm suspecting the MID itself.

I couldn't find the my MID config number anywhere so I don't know it it is the correct one or not.

The config info of the MID:
037        3
      24555

what's the mpg/km per litre like? My display will show that there is less fuel in the tank than there actually is ie when it's saying there's only 30 miles left I still have more than a gallon (5 litres) remaining.
The displays always err on the side of caution.

km/l is also too low according to the computer. At least compared to my own calculations when topping up the tank. The speed and distance are correct.

Also, I remember the display not lying when I got the car 2 years ago.

Although I'm no expect, I'd have thought that if distance & speed were correct, then the km/l shown will be as good as you'll get.  :-/

Not chipped. But there must be something giving the computer wrong data then.
