Got fault codes 0420 & 0430 engine management light on constantly. Back box looks a bit rough as well. Any suggestions, about codes or replacements ?? ;)

cats & precats would fix...
or just move the lambda sensors as per the maint guide.

Generic code reader to reset them .. probably stay out for 6 months... unless you use supermarket fuel.
I get 0420/0430 annually when I go to France and again on return, looking forward to resetting them in 3 weeks time .. :)

Expensive to change cats but doesn't make any difference to drive or performance

Thanks for replies, correct, the performance does not appear affected, do not use supermarket fuel, am on LPG. Wish I could move sensors, but needs the car in the air, haven't got a lift, and it looks expensive to get it done at a garage, and I bet they wouldn't be too gentle with the exhaust, so chance I might have to buy one anyway ? Once again, thanks for replies... ;)

On LPG as well .. :) the codes just don't appear until I go to France where the LPG is a different mix of propane/butane .. due to the different ambient temperatures. Within 48 hours of a french refill the codes appear, maxscan resets them and all is good for the whole holiday. back to UK and withion 48 hours of a UK fill same thing .. reset clears until next year !!
My thoughts are that the sensors pick up the "change" in exhaust gases due to the different "mix" as a fault.
The generic code reader ..... maxscan gs500 in my case ... allows me to turn the light off easily, so any "different" fault is not masked.
It cost the same as one visit to a dealer to do the same .. so has paid for itself with some ease.. :) Also allows me to check other things on both this car, the wife's shopping trolley, and other OOFers cars around the Swidnod area .. :)
A worthwhile investment IMHO .. :)

Historically with this car a good Italian tune up puts the light off. So it's defo border line.
Lee, Wellung 666, on here is midlands based and I believe has done a few lambda moves but it involves removing the cat from the car for welding.
However I believe he has net access issues currently. Maybe pm him when he comes back online. It's certainly not an urgent issue as we know.
