Hi guys, i've got a 2000 W plate 2.0 16v Estate. I had the MOT on saturday and it had advisories for the rear shocks. The car currently has the optional self levelling suspension. I was going to order some standard rear shocks to replace, is it as easy as just disconnect the self levelling stuff and fit the normal ones?
Cheers

You may have issues with your spring length, sure they are matched to each other
-
Nah, the suspension is sitting level but the current dampers have had it they are starting to leak oil
-
even when deflated, your current dampers still add something to the spring rate and the ride height, so much so that the rear springs you have are of a softer rate then on the non-levelling cars, which is what the poster was meaning.
ideally, you should be changing the springs to the proper rate and ride height, too.

yes..
Every set of shocks, has springs to match,
iird, self levelling 'springs' will be longer than the normal ones.
so handling may be a bit too bouncy on regular shocks.

self levelling springs have a shorter installed length than normal ones
