Title: What Oil?
Post by: car-nut on 29 July 2011, 19:01:12
I have hunted through the Maintenance guides and cannot find info on the oil. I don't know if it's me being blind or what but I have a 2.2 Facelift Omega Auto and want to order the oil for it.

What is the best grade to use?

Is it 10w40 or 5w30?

Cheers

have you been told the VX own is very cheap on the tradeclub scheme - about £35 for 4 x 5 litres?

you will need a TC card though...

I wish lol. I don't have a TC card but am ordering carlube oil from eurocarparts to get 25% off which is £21 for 5 litres.

Eurocarparts are never cheap.

As jimbob says, gm 5l cans come in around £9 if you buy 3. And gm filters are under £2. Tradeclub is well worth having

For now I will just have to pay the higher price, I have ordered 1 litre of gearbox oil, 5 litres of engine oil, oil filter and a drop link bar for my Focus and it all came in at just under £38.

Edit: And forgot tosay included in that price is 4 bosch spark plugs

See FAQ section. All you need to know is either there or in maintenance.

But basically it's £20 a year via autobahn stormers web site. Link in the post on the topic in FAQ.

Plugs and oil can't be found cheaper than from vx via trade club.

And I wouldn't put that car lube shite in my lawn mower if they paid me to take it off their hands.

I have used carlube many times now and never had any problems with it. But will enquire at my local Vauxhall dealer. If it was Ford I would have no issue with getting a discount as I am friend with the mangers of both my local ford main dealers but not really bothered to get to know the manager of SLM

Just to make Jimbobs point again
Thats £8.75 for 5 litres if you buy four 5 litre cans.

Eight pounds and seventy five pence.   :o  :)
