Title: Gearbox leak
Post by: al brown on 29 July 2011, 17:39:58
Hi all, after all the help from people on here selling/lending (cheers again KW) me bits to fix the car the gearbox has started leaking from somewhere near the selector switch. My question is, is there a seal/gasket for it or is it more likely to be the sump gasket? Couldnt see one listed for the switch on the gbox spares site mentioned on here.
I know leaks are next to impossible to trace on the internet, but if there is no chance of a leak from the swich it really does narrow it down.
Cheers,   Al

Not a usual leak area.

It's defo ATF ?      And not engine oil?

Yep, deffo gearbox oil, is red(ish) and only started straight after I topped it up. Is coming from around the selector switch area. Will change the gaskets and hope it is just that.
How much oil do you need to replace both gaskets, may as well do both as the oil isnt really red.
