So I found myself doing a Dukes of Hazzard and climbing out the window.......the drivers door won't open. Suspect something wrong with mechanism. Same on the outside. Questions is...how the hell does the door panel come off when the door is not open?? Anyone with any ideas would be warmly received!!

is it all doors or just driver door? and have you tried with the key manually turning it and at the same time pulling the lever?

No, just drivers door. Manged to get panel off enough to see inside, but can't see anything obvious. Central locking works fine both on key and manual - door just wont open!
When setting and un-setting central locking then pulling either internal of external door leaver there is a very slight resistance as if its trying to 'pull' a latch or something, but once done, if trying to pull again, theres nothing at all. Doing the Central Locking again does the same - slight resistance first attempt, then nothing!! Is the actual latch mechanism mechanic or is it a electronic switch or something?

Does the the door pin stay down or does it come up
If it staying down then most probably it's the motor
Grip the pin with a plier and pull it up it will be hard but will come up If enough pressure is applied

Its not the central locking...that works fine. The door is unlocked.....just open unlatch using both door handles!!

I suspect you will have to sacrifice the doorcard to get at the mechanism to fix it. ;)

If the central locking is working and you can open it by using both handles then it is probably a link rod that has come adrift. Only way I think to open it is as already said, you will probably have to sacrifice the door card. Fortunately there are loads advertised and are decently priced.
Just a mo....have you tried the AA cos they have a tool they use to open lockouts? :y
Stay away from locksmiths though, they will rob you blind! :o
