went out to start my vauxhall omega this morning and unlocked it , turned the key and it turns over but does'nt start, wondered if anyone could help dont know if immobilizer or something else. please help
-
What engine has your car got?
Have you checked for fault codes?
(see the code reading link in my sig, depending on engine type)
Any lights come on on dash? that dont normally?
-
we got 2.5l cd vauxhaul omega. no extra lights and no error codes, would the error code come up on dash board? and no flashing from the engine manegement light either
-
Have you maybe dropped your key, since the last time you drove it? :-/
-
might of done why? but it still unlocks door and turns over engine but does'nt start,
-
when you maybe have dropped it, did the key open up (battery visible)
-
no was still all together
-
could it be immoblizer?
-
thats where i was headed, but if your saying it didnt open, then dont see the immob going awol, and still should be in there?? but have a look and see incase the chip is loose inside the fob..
-
where inside fob is it under battery?
-
if the chip is intact, then your next step would be to check for fault codes. follow the guide below and post up whatever you find. :y

have a look on this for a better idea! where the chip is?
-
the chip is intact, and we wasnt getting any flashing sayiny there is anything wrong when we turn it on now. should we try this test and what should we look out for if it flashes or not?
-
probably a code 19. They need reading. Where are you located? There may be a helpful member not far away? :y
-
If you follow the paperclip test, the engine management light should flash, count it/ writing it down usually helps. then post them up here.

we are in hailsham, east sussex?

Here is a video of the flashes we get after doing paper clip test

Just a 31 there, so nothing to worry about.
Do you get any flashing lights on the dashboard when you turn it over and does the rev counter needle "kick"?
Try turning it over a few times with the accelerator pushed to the floor and then try again normally. This will clear it if it's flooded.
After that, we need to check the basics. Is there fuel pressure at the fuel rail and is there a spark?
-
there is no fuel pressure or spark, the immoblizer light goes out when u unlock car
-
On a very basic level...have you run out of fuel??
-
no we not ran out of fuel
-
we not getting any spark or fuel pressure but there is fuel in car to feed engine. but fuel does come out if manually done,
-
there is no fuel pressure or spark, the immoblizer light goes out when u unlock car
Crank sensor

Agreed. Might be worth checking the engine management fuse first though. 30A fusible link in the box above the battery terminal IIRC.

...and no flashing from the engine manegement light either

My understanding of Vauxhalls from this era is that if the immobilizer can't find the chip from the keyfob then it will flash the e.m.l.
Do Omega's not do this?

...wondered if anyone could help...
Do you hear the fuel pump priming when you first turn on the ignition?

Yes - no need to dismantle key unless eml flashing when trying to start.
As others - change crank sensor for a new genuine Vx one :y
