i need some help as i have gained a noise which i think is coming from the font wheel .
it gets louder when at speed but when i turn the wheel to the right it stops but when straight again its there.
i have changed the wheel bearings and tightened them up to the touque that it said .
just thinking is the there something i have done wrong .
i was thinking it was there tyre with a different tread on it causing the problem .
im going to change them over to see if it changes side but hope someone here can help

Might be worth filing a chamfer on the leading and trailing edges of the brake pads on that side and also checking the condition of the disks? Could well be the edge of a pad rubbing on the disk.

i shall have a look tomorrow when got more time , not long replaced the disks and pads but ill have a look . :y

had a alook over the weekend and all seems well bute noise still there and its doing my head in . off work next week so think ill be stripping it down the front end and have a better look . :y

hi ive got the same problem! i had wheel bearings changed today and the noise is still there :-/ the mechanic says it must be tyre noise,so i'm changing them tomorrow.i'll let you know what happens.

Perhaps listing the type of tyres you have on might give a few replies.
I have always used the recommended ones on mine and it has always been relatively quiet, just as a mig should be. Tread patterns can cause noise but tyres should be fitted as matching types and sizes anyway. Tyre noise can be a problem if certain types of cheapos are fitted but the type of road surface also has quite a bit to do with it. Some road surfaces are now made noisy to act as a speed deterrent, others are simply because a quiet road surface is an expensive one to lay......

Does the noise dissapear only when turning to the right? If so this may indicate which side the problem is!
Before you start shelling out more of your hard earned, try changing the tyres around to see if the characteristics change. I had a noise from the NS front on mine, which was only really noticeable at around 30mph. I changed the bearing hub assembly thinking it was the bearing on its way out only to find the problem persisted, turned out to be the tyre, so changed both fronts over with the rears and problem is no longer audible. Could not find anything wrong with the tyre at all. So as said it might be worth trying. BTW I am running on Michelin Primacy's

What kind of noise is it Mick ?
Grating , grinding ,whirring , humming ? does it increase / decrease with speed ,
Would give us a better idea. Did you change the wheel bearing after it appeared, have you kerbed it or driven into a pothole?
