Sorry Mate, I was out last night watching my daughter in panto.

For our non British viewers who may not be familiar with the concept of pantomime.

Basically, it is a moral story where the lead actors are young women who fall in love. One is dressed as a boy and the other is dressed as some sort of royalty, normally a princess. The 'boy' is normally from a one parent family whose 'mother' is played by a man who dresses in outrageous transvestite costume.

There is always a villainous character who spends most of the performance trying to kill the leading characters but nearly always get's murdered by the leading characters in the end.

Similarly, there is normally a character of low mental intelligence who is the butt of all of the jokes and is ritually ridiculed by all of the cast and all of the audience. It is expected that the audience shout out at this character to warn him of some impending dastardly act.

In Britain, this performance is considered 'family' entertainment and is encouraged by schools and churches across the land.   :-/  :y
