Title: v6 engine out
Post by: Y26SE on 12 August 2011, 09:16:16
Hello all since i did my 2.2 engine and box change someone asked if i would do his 2.5 v6 engine swap on an type B. could someone confirm for me that their isnt a guide in the maintenance section on v6 removal as i cant find any but i understand the principles of the engine removal i just wanted to double check a few points due to the engine variation.

1.      is it easier to remove the complete engine and box together like i found with the desmond and take it out the top as the bell housing just clears the subframe.
2.      If/when just taking the engine out is it out the top or subframe removal and out the bottom or is the subframe removal for gearbox clearance or engine clearance
3.      If just the engine removal how difficult is it to separate the auto box including the torque converter form the flywheel from underneath
4.      Any other issues that are worth addressing with the engine out like replace the coil pack regardless of its serviceability, rocker gaskets or oil cooler ect

Thanks For any info as ive not actually looked in an omega v6 and i dont want to take something on i might regret  and if their isn’t any guides is it worth taking lots of pics as i go and post it up as i go?

thanks
Mark

I would PM Serek about this. I saw him remove a V6 with manual gearbox in less than 2 hours from arriving to waving goodbye  :y
