The Omega passed it's MOT on Tuesday but I am having a problem with the speedo, or lack of. I had intermittent problems in the past where the speedo would drop and the ABS light would be on but it only happened about twice. Now the ABS light doesn't come on, only when ignition is on then it goes out when the car is started. I checked the clocks and the connections are fine. It also shows 0 mph on the trip computer display. The EML came on and checked the code which was P0500 - No Vehicle Speed Signal.
I have changed both rear sensors in the diff and it makes no difference.
Any suggestions as this is beginning to get annoying now
It's a 1997 2.0 Manual Omega... X20XEV

I'm not sure Mate but I know that some Vx's of that vintage still used a signal from the gearbox, even though they had A.B.S.
May-be the Omega was the same?

last time the speedo dropped I changed the sensor in the diff and it was fine. Last time the abs light was on but this time I have no speedo or abs light. That's what is puzzling me. I'm pretty sure there is not a feed from the gearbox

As it happens I have an ABS control unit from a '97. Its no use to me so you are welcome to it and then send me something if it fixes the problem.
