Title: 3.0 V6 suspension struts for 2.5 V6
Post by: Anthony in Madrid on 17 August 2011, 12:25:11
Hi guys how ya diddlin today?
Got a question.....Can the rear suspension struts (with springs) from an 3.0 V6 fit my 96' 2.5 V6????
Would it make any difference to handling/ride?

Your answers as usual are always appreciated :y

Best regards
Ant

they're the same, PROVIDED

both cars are saloons, or both are estates

and either both have self-levelling or neither have self levelling

Your car is a CD, so it will not have self levelling suspension.  :y

No struts in the rear, springs are separate from shocks  :-/  :y

the only way to lower a miggy 30 cms is to dig the ground..  ;D :y

Anthony, you need lowered springs.. even they are not cheap.. better approach is all springs and shocks.. will be really pricey..handling will be better , but comfort will be disturbed..

Hey CEM how ya doin?
So my whole point is to make my car look lower ..... not drastically but noticeable and fit some new 17inch Wheels but i just don't know what the lowering process is. Remember I'm new to this.
Can I do the procedure myself?
Do I need to buy new Dampers+Springs+Struts or will I just need to change the springs.
If I fit 17" Wheels will this make the car look lower or can I still or need to lower the car.
I kind of want this look for my Baby!!!

Thanks I'm fine Anthony.. And I hope you are fine too :y

If you are experienced in mechanic jobs on cars and have some equipment , you can.. otherwise no I'm afraid..

I would suggest 17 wheels+tires ..this will shorten the gap between the tires and body.. also will change the handling and brakes..(depending on the budget)

however if I were you thinking with my previous experiences on omega ,I would use the car for few months and try to understand if it has some problems or not..An aged car is never the same as a brand new one.. I think a healthy car is more important..so I would spend my money/budget firstly for  some parts renewal like brakes, discs, geometry, old sensors and leaking gaskets, oil changes (engine+gearbox+differential)..after you are confident about the car totally then I would go for cosmetic changes..

Cem! True what you say. All I can say is "Damn this excitement!"  ;D
But you are right. I will cruise around in the new Omega for a while. Maybe see how she passes the forthcoming winter then make the changes that are needed.
Best regards
