Dear All, my 2.5 V6 engine temperature gets very hot. Runs at over 95 most of the time and when in traffic up to the red line. Fan is working fine (thankfully). This has been a gradual change as car used to run on 90 all the time. I have flushed the radiator but this made minimal difference. I am looking at changing the thermostat or water pump. Is it more likely to be one more than the other?
I also have adamaged servo vacumn pipe. It has two "t" pieces in it. I am having trouble sourcing one from breakers etc. Is there a suggested parts person who might help before i go to the main dealer? Many thanks in anticipation of any advice.

Thermostat failure usually (but not always) causes cold running.
Pump failure usually makes the car undriveable (the engine boils within minutes of being started).
Mild overheating is usually a sign of a radiator problem. On Omegas radiator problems are usually caused by either the electric fans not cutting in correctly (there are three fans & each fan has two speeds) or oil in the cooling system caused by failure of the oil cooler.

Dear All,
many thanks for your input. I am going to try and repair the servo hose for the time being. I have managed to get some parts (elbow bend specifically) from the local vauxhall dealer for a couple of pounds.
With regards teh overheating the only other thing i have read on the web about is the HBV as a possible cause for pressurising teh system. Anybody had any experience of this ?

Have changed HBV and thermostat but no change in situation. Car drives fine on motorway with temp at about 94-96 degrees. temperature climbs when i hit traffic and fans then cut in at around 98 to 100.Just a bit concerned that car is running too hot. From earlier comments it would seem the water pump is ok as car drives fine for a number of miles without really overheating. So looks like a radiator efficiency issue perhaps. Have flushed the system as per the guide and no sign of any oily sludge. have had k-seal in the system to stop a minor leak previously. Just wondering whether it is worth changing the radiator. Any thoughts/advice welcome. Cheers

If it's had kseal in it there's a good chance some of the waterways are blocked. Change the rad (just as I have this weekend) :y
