Just checked a friends DTI out - has a problem only when towing his caravan - engine cuts out when under load (overtaking) did it five times recently - puts it in neutral and restarts no problem - checked stored history codes and found the following
P0190 & P01590 Seam to be aimed at a mechanical fuel pump issue - any info on this would be welcome.
also i have seen on Vectra forums recently about people adding 2stroke oil to diesel - around 250 ml per tank - this idea has come from a Ford transit website - the idea is to lubricate the pump - meant to run quieter and improve mpg - not heard of this before - anyone on here tried it?

Hi Geff
I have seen this once before and it was the crankshaft sensor and it to threw some odd fuel pump codes.
As for the 2 strke oil, yes, it helps to replace some of the lubrication which is lost during the de-sulherisation process used on modern diesel. I even use it on my Z19DTH unit.
The trick is the 1 part oil to 200 parts diesle mix.
The actual research for this was carried out by Merc

Hi Mark been a while mate, he told me that a garage had recently changed his crank speed sensor so they could be old codes that they didn't clear - thanks for that mate - will see if the codes come back - the car is ok solo fault only appears when under load towing - will tell him to stick some 2 stoke oil in it.
so you got shut of the V6 then? Did you have a DTM calibra then Mark ? i have just sold my calibra v6 - which i uprated to a 3.0 ltr with a lightened flywheel - fantastic car

Hello Geoff, long time no speak.
Yeh have seen pump timing codes raised with Crank Sensor issues.

Dead give away for CS failure / impending failure on these is when the rev counter drops but the car still drives (albeit slowly!)
