Seem I have a strange gearbox issue for some time now.
When the engine is hot and is turned on there can be heard a bang sometimes louder sometimes less loud but it exists definitely. Besides that when I star to drive there is a clicking sound comming from the gearbox it seems (sound can be heard like it is coming from outside not from the insde of the car), actually I thought that it is the cat but the exasut mechanic said it is comming from the gearbox.
What is strange is that this never and I mean never happens if the engine is cold. :-?
Can anyone point to cause off the problem?
I hope it is not a dmf

auto or manual???
dose it do anthing else?

manual as op mentions dmf

The bang gets louder as you turn the car on and off repeatedly.
The mechanic pointed to two possible problems
Starter motor doesn't turn off completely when it turns on thee car.
Other one is dmf problem

Never heard of DMF failure on Omega manuals, besides the 2.2 does not have the power to really tax it!
The clutch is dis-engaging ok? When you hot start it several times are you doing anything in between? Depress the clutch?

No matter if the clutch is pressed or not when starting hot.
This has been happening for some time now, but I turn on the the car rarely when it is hot so still didn't see any decrease in performance.
Car seems ok but when it is turned on several times it can scare the sh... out of you with this banging.
Also gearbox is hard when the car is cold in the morning. Needs some force pushing it a gear, but after tht when you start going it works perfectly

what is the oil like in gearbox? get a bit out and feel it in fingers, also if have magnet hold it a way from the oil and see what happens.

One symptom I forgot to mention and have no idea if it is related.
When the car is on and standing still it is more difficult to put it in first gear if the brake is pressed. If brake is released it goes into gear more easily :-?

Have you checked the brake fluid level.
The brake fluid is also the clutch fluid.
When the brake fluid gets low the clutch/gears are harder to get the reason being the clutch slave cylinder takes fluid from a pipe about half way up the brake resivour as a saftey warning when its low :y

Agree with the last post, had the same issue on beamer and focus. Also check if your clutch pedal have any "free space" on the way up. Push it down and pust it up towards the dash, like pumping do this few times, check the fluid level and maybe your clutch cylinder is going so you could have a leak somewhere. Add fluid if missing, pump the clutch pedal and that shift gear. Should work

Thanks for the idea guys, will chck the brake fluid today.
