Title: Overheating
Post by: downsmen on 12 September 2011, 16:58:33
Hi the car overheated yesterday whilst towing a small trailer.
It Suddenly went straight into the red and there was also a bit of steam from somewhere in the engine bay not sure where? :-/

it has been losing coolant for a while though but its not the HBV as i have changed this. :y

any ideas what would have caused this to overheat and would have this caused any lasting damage?

You need to locate leak.

Is the aux belt still on, and in one piece?

HBV is most likely, but you say its not that.  In which case, you just have to find it - sorry.

Check the stat area or oil cooler plate, any and all hoses, rear passenger side corner of head. That`s a start

Start trying to find your leak mate...
Check the radiator and the thermostat... No matter what people say on here that they don't fail closed.... They do I have seen 4 on the omega. Several on other cars.....
