What makes you think they have failed, are you using pattern cats? Got error codes? Emissions high?

Engine Management light was on when checked it gave Error code P0420, Catalyst effeciency below threshold Bank 1.

i had this problem earlier this year, had a warped exhaust manifold, changed that inc gasket, then turned out to be the cat that was knackered due to me running round with the eml on...!.check for any leaks in the exhaust/downpipe joint first though. :)

Very common occurence on the DBW engine ... reset the codes with a cheap reader and don't worry about it. :) It seems to occur if you change fuel supplier for some reason ... IME ... I bought the GS500 mainly for this reason ...  it is not a matter of "if" the 2.6/3.2 will give this problem .. but "when" ...  :)

If you ignored a misfire for ages then I can see how a cat might fail, or if it was coated in oil maybe..

I think it's funny how you can 'scrap' a genuine cat and have enough cash to go a buy a brand new pattern part.
