have you checked for oil in plugwells ? if there is oil in them then new camcover gaskets im afraid :( this can cause a misfire and left to long can fry the leads and in turn the dis pack

Have you considered an exorcism? ;)
More seriously, first thing to do is to pull each of the plug leads out and check for oil in the plug wells due to cam cover gasket failure, IMHO.
If that looks OK, do a paperclip check and see if any trouble codes are stored. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

The engine won't have a ghost of a chance of running smoothly if you have oil in your plug wells.

if nothing else, make sure whoever does the gaskets that they don't overtighten them.
the screws shouldn't be very tight at all - loose enough that you can take them out just by gripping a socket extension and don't need a ratchet. Overtightening causes the cam covers to flex, opening up the gaps again.

.. and only use genuine GM gaskets. Pattern parts tend not to last.
Clean out the breathers as well, as blockage will cause them to fail in short order. :y
